There are a couple of reasons we prefer to use the fee-based model. Since we act as a fiduciary financial advisor, the fee-based model puts us on the same side of the table as our clients. By charging a flat annual fee, when you do better, we do better. Therefore, we are incentivized to act in your best interest since our income is tied to the value of the account.
The commission-based model is different because an advisor may sell a client a mutual fund, collect a commission, and then never have incentive to care about how the account is doing ever again. This isn’t to say all commission-based advisors work this way, but unfortunately we see this in the industry all too often.
A fee-based fiduciary financial advisor does better when you do better
Because we’re using a fee-based model, we want to design portfolios with the lowest cost and best performing funds that we can find. We spend a lot of time researching the best options for our clients. Again, the better the account does, the better we do. So why wouldn’t we want the best performing and lowest cost funds available in the portfolio?

Our commitment to our clients is that we’re always available. At a minimum we require at least meeting annually to revisit your financial plan to make sure you’re on track.
